If you are unhappy with the shape and appearance of your buttocks, a Brazilian butt lift may be the right option for you. It uses your body’s own natural fat to improve the shape and size of your butt. You may wonder how long the procedure lasts due to it utilizing your own body fat.

Brazilian butt lifts can take as long as six months before you see the final results of the procedure. Of course, you must do your part to properly care for yourself to ensure that your results can last. It’s important to know how to do this and how you can prepare for the procedure.

Brazilian butt lifts use your own body fat

The Brazilian butt lift procedure is done using the latest cutting edge technology in liposuction to remove fat cells from a specific area of the body. Usually, this is a problem area that you wish to make smaller, such as the abdomen, thighs, hips or lower back. The fat cells are purified in preparation for the procedure and then injected into the buttocks.

While augmentation using butt implants is an invasive procedure, Brazilian butt lift is all natural and doesn’t use any foreign objects. However, if you truly want to maintain your results for as long as possible, you have to work at it. When you have an initial consultation with a plastic surgeon, you will discuss your options for preparing for the surgery and receive steps on aftercare to maintain your results.

Recovering from buttock augmentation

On average, it takes around six weeks to recover from a Brazilian butt lift. For the first two weeks after your surgery, you should avoid sitting or laying directly on your buttocks. It’s advised that you sleep on your side and sit on a pillow or rubber donut. You may even need to do the latter for eight weeks depending on your situation.

You should be able to go back to lighter activities seven days after your procedure and within seven to 10, return to work. Strenuous activities and exercise should be avoided until you have completely recovered, which usually happens by the sixth to eighth week. You will be required to return to the plastic surgery office for follow-ups while you recover.

Maintaining your results

You will have to take steps to retain the results from your Brazilian butt lift. You must maintain your weight to keep your results, which means living a healthy lifestyle by consuming a healthy diet and exercising regularly. Eat low-fat dairy and meats, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats. Avoid foods with empty calories and exercise at least three or four times per week if you can’t manage doing so daily.

Remember, it takes hard work on your part to maintain the results of your procedure, which can last up to 10 years. If you have trouble doing this, you may want to find a personal trainer or nutritionist to help.
