Discover the rejuvenating benefits of Radiesse at Cosmetic Surgery Associates in Bethesda MD. Our practice is dedicated to providing advanced, non-surgical aesthetic solutions in a safe, supportive environment. Radiesse is a trusted choice for patients seeking both immediate volume and long-term collagen stimulation to restore youthful facial contours and reduce the appearance of deep lines.
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is an innovative injectable filler formulated with calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. Unlike hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Radiesse provides some immediate effects while also promoting your skin’s natural ability to produce collagen, a protein that gives the skin elasticity and a firm texture. This unique quality makes Radiesse ideal for patients seeking a non-surgical treatment to address signs of aging.
Radiesse can be used to rejuvenate and contour a variety of facial areas, creating balance and facial harmony. The most common regions include the cheeks, chin, jawline, and nasolabial folds that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth. It is also uniquely FDA-approved to address volume loss on the backs of the hands, providing a more youthful and smooth appearance. Treatment plans are individualized for each patient’s unique goals.

Good Candidates for Radiesse
Radiesse is a great treatment option for patients who do not wish to undergo plastic surgery and those who are not good surgical candidates. Ideal candidates for Radiesse are healthy adults who wish to address moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and loss of definition along the cheeks, jawline, and hands. Individuals with a history of allergies to filler ingredients or certain medical conditions may require an alternative product. During your consultation, your goals and medical history will be carefully reviewed to ensure Radiesse is the right fit for you.
One of the benefits of Radiesse treatment is its immediate and gradual results.
How Radiesse Works
Immediately after injection, the calcium microspheres will lift the skin, filling in deep wrinkles and building volume to enhance the facial features. Gradually, the calcium-based microspheres break down and stimulate natural collagen production to combat the aging process and rejuvenate a more youthful appearance. This new collagen supports the skin’s structure for ongoing improvement in texture, elasticity, and firmness, creating results that endure even as the filler is gradually absorbed by the body.
Consultation
Every patient at Cosmetic Surgery Associates starts their Radiesse journey with a personalized consultation. Your provider will examine your skin, discuss your desired improvements, and outline the best approach to achieve your goals. Safety, education, and your satisfaction are our top priorities, and we ensure you feel well informed and confident before moving forward with treatment.
Radiesse Procedure
Radiesse treatment is performed in-office and can be completed in as little as thirty minutes. Many patients do not find this treatment to be painful, but a topical numbing cream can be applied to maximize comfort. Radiesse injections will be carefully placed in the treatment area to create a balanced, natural-looking result.
Radiesse Recovery
Radiesse injections require minimal downtime and recovery. Some mild redness, swelling, or bruising at injection sites may appear but generally fades within a few days. There are typically no restrictions on work or light activities, but heavy exercise and direct sun exposure may be limited briefly. Results are visible immediately, with continued enhancement as collagen builds over the next several months. Follow-up visits may be scheduled to assess your progress and support ongoing satisfaction.
Results from Radiesse
The small calcium spheres in the Radiesse formula provide some immediate results, but these results will continue to develop over a few weeks as collagen is stimulated. Depending on the areas treated, patients may see improved definition in their cheeks, smoother skin, and fewer wrinkles, creating an overall more youthful appearance. Results typically last one year, but some patients have seen noticeable improvements for up to two years, depending on treatment location and metabolism. Protecting the skin from the sun and using quality skincare products can help maintain results.
Complementary Procedure: Neuromodulators
Neuromodulators use botulinum toxin type A to temporarily relax the facial muscles, reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions. We offer a wide range of botulinum toxin injections, likeXeomin, Botox, and Dysport. These injectables are commonly combined with fillers to address both dynamic and static wrinkles, providing comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
