What Is Latisse?
After a successful clinical trial in 2008, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the prescription medication bimatoprost (brand name Latisse) to treat the condition of eyelash hypotrichosis (the medical term for inadequate eyelashes). With regular applications along the lash line of the upper eyelid, Latisse gradually encourages the growth of longer, fuller, and darker eyelashes. Patients treated with Latisse in the clinical study experienced a 25% increase in lash length, a 106% increase in lash thickness/fullness, and an 18% increase in lash darkness.

The Latisse Procedure
Latisse is a prescription treatment applied to the base of your upper eyelid lash margin (Latisse is not meant to be applied to your lower eyelid). To achieve optimal results, Latisse should be used once a day for 16 weeks. Applying Latisse more than once a day will not increase the efficacy of the product. The eyelash thickening, darkening, and lengthening results of Latisse are gradual—you may start to notice longer lashes after one month, and you will see complete results in approximately four months. If you discontinue using Latisse, your lashes will eventually return to their original appearance over the course of the next few months. Common side effects of Latisse are itchy and red eyes, and, although very infrequent, Latisse may cause a permanent increase in the brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye.

Pre and Post-Procedure Enhancement System
Alastin’s Pre and Post-Procedure Enhancement System is an effective, non-invasive way for patients to improve their skin’s natural function and healing process.
Patients who wish to use this system to promote their best results from a skin rejuvenating treatment are advised to begin using the products for at least two to three weeks before their procedure. This allows the skin time to begin what is known as “skin bed preparation.” The Alastin system will target and clear the proteins prohibiting the cellular communication necessary for successful healing. After three weeks, the skin is better prepared to enter its healing process, which the system will continue to support. Alastin identifies these stages of healing as Inflammation, Reparation, and Remodeling, or the production of new cells. Throughout the 90-day period after a patient’s procedure, Alastin’s Pre and Post-Procedure Enhancement System will continue to strengthen and support the skin.
