Skincare is one of the most worthwhile investments because, with great skincare, you can make a huge difference in your appearance and protect your natural, youthful beauty. SkinTyte, a laser skin rejuvenating technology, is one of the most advanced treatments available and offers patients a convenient, effective, non-surgical facial rejuvenation solution.
About SkinTyte
SkinTyte is a non-invasive, non-surgical skin treatment that can refresh our skin and address symptoms such as loss of skin elasticity, jowling, or sagging skin under the neck. The SkinTyte system is the latest development in skin rejuvenation technology from Sciton, industry leaders in non-invasive cosmetic technologies. Harnessing the power of next-generation pulsed light technology and infrared energy, the treatment works via a process called selective thermolysis to achieve deep tissue heating.
With the skin firming action of the SkinTyte treatment, you can put a stop to the effects of aging and have a vibrant outward appearance that matches how you feel on the inside.

The heat energy delivered in each SkinTyte pulse rapidly brings the temperature up in the chromophores, causing them to rapidly vibrate and break down.
How Does SkinTyte Work?
At a glance, SkinTyte is a tissue heating technology. Although there are many skin firming treatments that use light or infrared energy to achieve deep tissue heating and tightening, SkinTyte is unique. Using broadband light to deliver infrared energy has proven to deliver more consistent results in terms of collagen remodeling with less overall discomfort.
Traditional broadband light treatments often require many passes to achieve the appropriate level of tissue heating, which results in longer treatment times and extended periods of discomfort. The levels of energy delivered by older pulsed light treatments were limited to avoid discomfort or risk to surrounding tissue.
Based on the principle of selective photothermolysis, SkinTyte technology is able to improve your skin’s youthful appearance with rapid heating and cooling deep in the epidermis. Rapid heating and cooling cycles make it possible to achieve maximum heating penetration while protecting surrounding tissue.
Selective photothermolysis means light and infrared energy is used to heat specific tissues to break them down while leaving the surrounding tissues unharmed. This is possible because SkinTyte’s advanced infrared delivery system is calibrated to match specialized wavelengths of light and the duration of each pulse to a type of “chromophore.” Chromophores are tissues in the skin that are responsible for pigmentation in the skin and hair. For example, melanin is a chromophore in the skin that causes the discoloration in age spots and brown spots in the skin.
Additionally, the heat energy penetrates the dermis of the skin, which results in collagen restructuring, collagen contraction, and denaturation. The collagen restructuring then sets your body’s healing response in motion.
This cycle results in the revitalization of your skin’s texture and elasticity, becoming firmer and tighter to the touch.
Skin Laxity
At the crux of aging symptoms in many parts of the body is skin laxity. Skin laxity refers to a loss of skin elasticity. An important element of youthful skin is good skin elasticity, which means that your skin is easily able to bounce back when pulled or resist the effects of gravity. Good skin elasticity allows your skin to retain a smooth, perky, taut appearance.
However, skin elasticity inevitably diminishes over time. With the natural effects of aging, genetics, and the impact of sun exposure, your skin can show signs of wear and tear in the form of dullness, wrinkling, creasing, and sagging.
There is a large body of research that indicates that chronic overexposure to the sun without adequate protection is a major issue for skin quality. The effects of the sun’s UV rays on skin tissue are now understood to be much more profound than previously thought. UV exposure has been shown to be the cause of nearly 80% of visible signs of aging!
UV rays accelerate the breakdown of healthy skin and damage five essential elements of healthy skin. This effect is known as dermatoheliosis, where your UVB rays break down the structures of skin cell DNA. Collagen production becomes inhibited, and other growth factors in the skin degrade as well. Chronic exposure to UVA and UVB rays leads to harmful reactions to your skin, such as increased inflammation, oxidative damage, and an increase in free radical production.
Fortunately, with SkinTyte, you have the power to reverse some of the effects of aging on the skin.
SkinTyte Vs. Other Treatments
SkinTyte is an ideal treatment for those who want to turn back the clock on symptoms of facial aging and loss of skin elasticity. The treatment is not meant to be an alternative to a complete surgical facelift but is a non-surgical, non-invasive option for those with more subtle signs of facial aging.
SkinTyte treatment is faster, more convenient, and involves little to no downtime for recovery. Since there are no incisions or surgery, the treatment completely eliminates the need for anesthesia as well.
Ideal Candidates
SkinTyte can address a wide range of skin blemishes and improve skin elasticity for healthy, adult men and women with all skin types. The treatment is effective for any area of the body, including the face, neck, hands, chest, and abdomen.
Not all individuals will be a good fit for treatment. For those with more significant signs of aging and sagging skin, surgical procedures such as the facelift or tummy tuck may be better suited for their goals.
To best determine how SkinTyte treatment will work for you, speak with any one of our anti-aging experts at Cosmetic Surgery Associates.
All consultations at Cosmetic Surgery Associates are a personalized, private, one-to-one meeting with a member of our team of skincare specialists.
Consultation
During your consultation, you will be able to point out issues that concern you and discuss your personal goals for treatment. Together, you and the physician will weigh the benefits of SkinTyte and walk through the steps of the experience in detail. You may be recommended additional treatments or alternatives depending on your presenting symptoms and goals.
After a physical examination and discussion of your medical history and preferences, you will receive a detailed breakdown of the treatment and the cost. Most patients experience the best results and most significant improvement in skin quality over a course of multiple treatments spaced a few months apart.
SkinTyte treatments are performed in the comfort and safety of our state-of-the-art facility. You will be awake and rest comfortably during the entire process.
SkinTyte Treatment
You will be given eye protection, and we typically recommend that patients close their eyes to protect themselves from the powerful pulse light emitted by the treatment head. The handheld SkinTyte is passed over the target area as it emits a rapid pulse of light energy that lasts fractions of a second. The pulses are gentle and typically require no topical numbing cream or anesthesia, but are available upon request or if treating an especially sensitive area of the body.
Depending on the issue being treated or the size of the area, multiple passes may be necessary. Usually, a treatment session of the face will last around half an hour, but a session can take a little longer for larger areas of the body.
After Treatment
Some patients experience immediate, mild redness, but this will fade within minutes. Since the treatment is non-invasive and non-surgical, you will be back on your feet and back to your normal, daily routine without missing a beat! You can immediately reapply makeup and sunscreen after your treatment.
We do recommend patients pay special attention to wearing ample sun protection in the days after treatment and consistently afterward to ensure the best results for their skin health.
Results
The full results of treatment will appear over the following months, taking about four months for collagen foundations to reform and tighten. Noticeably tighter, lifted skin and a reduction in sagging will become visible after about two months.
We recommend patients take a photo before their treatment to serve as a clear frame of reference. A single treatment session will yield improvements in skin tightness and texture for most patients. Patients with more extreme skin laxity may benefit from a more intensive course with multiple treatment sessions timed over a few weeks.
