How Volbella Works
Volbella is an injectable that can be used for lip augmentation procedures. This hyaluronic acid-based solution can provide various treatments for lip enhancement, as listed below:
- Shifting lip contours
- Adjusting mouth symmetry
- Increasing volume in the lips
- Anti-aging effects for wrinkles and lines
This smooth, gel-like substance is deposited either in or around the lips, providing a subtle but noticeable improvement to the unwanted effects of aging. The texture of this filler allows for very natural-looking results that last. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, so it doesn’t pose any threat of allergic reaction and is broken down by the body’s metabolism naturally. Volbella will remain in the lips for up to 6-8 months, after which patients will need recurrent treatment to maintain long-lasting results.
This injectable is completely safe and can be used routinely to maintain results.
Treatment Areas
Unlike many other dermal fillers, which can be applied to numerous areas around the face, Volbella is specifically designed to treat aging lips and lines or wrinkles around the mouth. It is most commonly used to address vertical lines along the lips. Variations of this solution’s product line may be effective for other facial regions, but Volbella itself is going to produce the best results just on or around the mouth.
Good Candidates
There are a few main qualifications for those who want to have the Volbella treatment. Coming in for a consultation will help our physicians determine which treatment is best for you. Good candidates for Volbella treatments should be:
- At least 21 years or older
- Looking to enhance the shape and size of lips
- Minimize the effects of aging on the face
- Reduce lines and wrinkles surrounding the lips
- Correct asymmetry in the lips
Good candidates for Volbella treatments should be in good health and have no allergies to any of the ingredients in Volbella. It is also important that patients have realistic expectations and discuss any concerns with the physician prior to undergoing the treatment. Volbella injections last for up to a year for most patients, and you can undergo repeated sessions to keep the youthful, vibrant lips you desire. To find out if you are a good candidate for this innovative injectable, please contact our office and request a complimentary consultation.

Volbella Treatment Process
Volbella injections take around 30 minutes to perform, depending on the amount of treatment needed and is done as an outpatient procedure, requiring no downtime. Patients often schedule their treatment in on their lunch break or in-between running errands and then to their normal routine immediately afterward without skipping a beat.
The physician will begin the treatment by cleaning the target area around the mouth or lips. The injection contains a small amount of a local anesthetic which will numb the injection site and relieve any discomfort. Previous patients have reported that the injections feel similar to a light pinching sensation.
In your consultation, your physician will determine any potential allergies you have and whether any Volbella ingredients might conflict with those.
Recovery
There is no downtime necessary following the Volbella injections, and aftercare is incredibly simple. Mild irritation, bruising, and swelling may be present but should subside quickly. If discomfort persists or worsens, please contact Cosmetic Surgery Associates to schedule a follow-up examination. It is recommended that you avoid direct sunlight for the first few days after treatment, stay in areas of cool or moderate temperatures (and avoid excessive heat), and don’t engage in strenuous activities or exercise during this time.
Your results will last up to one year, after which you will be able to return to our office for routine maintenance. Undergoing recurrent treatment will ensure the longevity of your results.
Altetnative & Additional Treatments
During your consultation, we will work directly with you to develop a treatment plan that will be beneficial to your needs. In some cases, you can combine several different facial rejuvenation treatments to further your anti-aging results. Combining multiple treatments will help to save you time and efforts, providing you with the results you want after one single visit. The various treatments that patients typically combine with Volbella are listed as follows:
Botox®
Botox® is a popular injection treatment that paralyzes the muscles (temporarily) around the mouth, which forces them to relax and minimizes the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This smooths out the skin and keeps lines from worsening over time.
Dermal Fillers
There are a growing number of dermal fillers and alternative cosmetic treatments available for the lips and around the mouth. A few that are hyaluronic acid-based include Juvederm Ultra, Belotero Balance, and Restylane. These mainly differ in the strength of the formula and the duration of the results, as well as the cost involved. They also are categorized according to their thickness and particle sizes, which specializes each one towards specific body areas.
Facial Fat Transfer
This surgical cosmetic procedure takes fat tissue from around the body and transplants it into the lips or surrounding tissue to achieve a fuller, firmer, smoother appearance. This does require incisions, anesthetics, and a longer, more involved recovery period, and may not be the best choice for all patients.tact our office and request a complimentary consultation.
