The advanced two in one treatment precisely targets problem areas on the face, neck, and decolletage with integrated motion tracking technology. Find out why the world’s first adjustable hybrid fractional laser has received raving reviews by requesting a consultation today!

What is Halo?

Halo is a Sciton hybrid fractional laser that utilizes adjustable wavelengths to target specific facial skin concerns and promote an even skin tone and smooth texture. Halo can reduce the appearance of fine lines, uneven skin textures, and sunspots that develop over time due to age, sun exposure, or harsh uncontrollable pollutants. Halo is also able to address skin pigmentation, reducing the appearance of age spots, as well as clearing the skin of facial blemishes or scarring.

This treatment emits both ablative and non-ablative laser wavelengths in unison while allowing the esthetic nurse or doctor the ability to individually adjust the strength of the wavelengths depending on the required treatment and the patient’s desired results.

Benefits of Halo

The ability to use multiple wavelengths while being able to adjust and control the intensity of each allows the doctor to precisely and accurately treat problem areas. Additionally, motion tracking technology is integrated within the system, meaning that the skin will be treated uniformly. Halo is a great option for women and men who like chemical peels as well as laser treatments because they can enjoy the best of both worlds in a single treatment session. Patients who have undergone Halo treatments are amazed by the long-lasting results.

Halo is preferred over other laser treatments because of its advanced technology which targets the precise depth needed to address the underlying causes of imperfections and promotes the growth of healthy skin cells and the increase of collagen production. Another great benefit of Halo is its ability to address old acne scars and deep-set marks by non-surgical means. The Halo procedure can be performed in less an hour and the patient is free to return to work. Many patients have said the process is pain-free.

Our esthetic nurses and doctors at Cosmetic Surgery Associates can address any concerns or questions our patients may have in determining if Halo will be of benefit to them. Scheduling a consultation with one of our accomplished esthetic nurses or doctors is the first step towards crafting a custom Halo treatment plan.

The Halo Process

Halo is a nonsurgical treatment performed in the comfort of our office. A series of treatments may be recommended for best results for some individuals. The exact number of treatments will depend on the individual patient and is advised during the initial consultation.
Just one treatment can bring back that healthy, youthful glow.

On the day of the treatment, patients are asked to arrive with a clean, make-up free face. The doctor will start by applying a cool anesthetic gel or cream to the patient’s face or area of treatment. The anesthetic cream can take around 15-30 minutes to fully take effect. Once the numbing agent has absorbed into the facial tissue, a handheld device is then moved along the face directly placing the laser wavelengths on the target zones. The Halo treatment process takes between 30-45 minutes depending on the extent of the patient’s conditions. As the device moves along the patient’s skin, some patients notice mild tingling and a warming sensation, but these are very tolerable and will soon disappear. The numbing agent helps the patient feel comfortable during treatment. After the Halo device has covered the entire treatment area, a moisturizer will be applied for full effect.

The Science Behind Halo: Ablative & Non-Ablative Lasers

Halo uses two types of laser wavelengths, ablative and non-ablative, in a combined effect to provide overall enhanced skin quality and appearance. The combination of these modalities allows the patient to enjoy the benefits of laser resurfacing and deep rejuvenation.

  • Non-ablative 1470nm laser wavelengths penetrate deep into the skin to heal the target areas and promote the production of healthier tissue and skin. The microchannels created by the infrared lasers initiate a natural response in the body to heal the ‘wound’ and stimulate coagulation and increased collagen production. This action addresses scars and age spots as well as tightens and smooths the surface skin.
  • Ablative 2940nm laser wavelengths work on the surface to remove damaged skin and reveal new, healthy skin. The ablative erbium YAG wavelengths are emitted with controlled precision from the Sciton laser. Water in the damaged tissue is targeted and heated to effectively address the imperfections. These wavelengths work best to treat wrinkles and sun damage.

Our highly skilled esthetic nurses and doctors at Cosmetic Surgery Associates will create a customized treatment plan to address the patient’s skin concerns.

Ideal Candidate

Just about anyone can qualify for Halo treatments! Patients that would like to see if Halo treatments are right for them are encouraged to contact us and set up a consultation.

Halo works great for men and women concerned with visible sun damage, enlarged pores, poor tone and texture, and visible marks or scars on their faces. Ideal patients will be healthy, nonsmoking, and have good skin elasticity. Patients should not have any open wounds in the treatment area or active skin infections.

During the consultation, the esthetic nurses or doctor will examine the areas of concern, then keeping in mind the patient’s desired outcome, make personalized recommendations to achieve the finest results. Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser addresses a wide variety of skin concerns and has greatly benefitted many of our Maryland patients.

Halo vs. BBL

Halo and BBL are both facial rejuvenation devices, but there are differences that make patients better suited for one treatment over the other.

BroadBand Light® (BBL)

BBL is a light-based treatment, emitting pulses of light energy to the skin. The short bursts of light from this Intense Pulsed Light device cover a large area of skin, making it an ideal treatment for skin concerns such as freckles, rosacea, acne, age spots, and mild skin laxity. The heat from the light emitted stimulates the growth of new skin cells and increases collagen production.

Halo®

Halo utilizes non-ablative and ablative wavelengths simultaneously to treat smaller areas with more accuracy. Halo is ideal for patients looking to treat wrinkles, pigmentation, enlarged pores, and acne scars. The two wavelengths target the epidermis and dermis for total rejuvenation.

One treatment is not better than the other; they both have their strengths. The treatment right for you will have to be determined after a discussion with one of our doctors and a consultation examination.

Treatment & Recovery

During the consultation, the esthetic nurse or doctor will examine the patient’s skin and specific areas of concern. The purpose of the consultation is to determine whether or not the patient is a good candidate for Halo, or whether they would be better suited for an alternative facial rejuvenation treatment. Once it is verified that the patient is an ideal candidate, the doctor will then design a personalized Halo treatment plan specific to meet the patient’s individual needs.

The provider will go over any preparatory treatment care plans as well as advise the patient on what to expect the day of treatment. Please mention any previous treatments or surgeries to the doctor at this time.

Some patients only need one treatment session to accomplish their desired look, while others with more concerns may require multiple treatments. The exact amount of recommended treatments to obtain optimal results will be advised during the consultation.

Halo Laser Treatment Recovery

Patients who have undergone Halo treatment can notice initial results within the first week of treatment. Halo results tend to become more visible around 2-3 weeks after the treatment and continue to improve. After the Halo procedure, patients are encouraged to take it easy for the remainder of the day while their skin positively reacts to the treatment. Halo may cause a slight swelling, redness, or itching, but these side effects all go away within a few days.

Our esthetic nurses and doctors at Cosmetic Surgery Associates recommend using a cold compress on the face after treatment to reduce swelling and sensitivity. The week following the initial Halo treatment, patients may see some spots or tint on the treated area similar to a tan. This is normal and will subside quickly. As the skin heals, our patients are advised to wear a hat and a high-level SPF sunscreen to keep the newly treated skin protected from sun damage. This is also recommended for general use whenever the patient will be exposed to the sun for good skincare.

Cost of Halo Laser Treatment

Halo hybrid fractional laser treatment varies in cost based on the extent of treatment and the number of sessions undergone to achieve maximum results. The doctor may also recommend additional facial rejuvenation treatments which will alter the price.
