Breast implant surgery makes a lot of sense to women who are conscious of their bodies and how they should look. Dr. Franklin D. Richards, & Dr. A. Dean Jabs perform hundreds of implants each month at their facilities located at Bethesda, MD and McLean, VA, Northern Virginia; Fairfax, VA; Alexandria, VA, Chevy Chase, MD; Rockville, MD meet and counsel their clients on every aspect of breast implant and exchange procedures.

Why ask for before and after surgery photos

A good plastic surgeon can make a real difference to your breasts by skillfully using cosmetic surgery techniques. The before and after pictures reveal the difference made to your breasts. Before the actual procedure, your plastic surgeon will speak to you to counsel you. This is the time when you should open up and clear all your doubts and worries.

The entire procedure lasts for about an hour or less. The cosmetic surgery procedure begins with anesthesia. The plastic surgeon thereafter begins the next procedure, breast incisions. The incisions are either at the same location as the previous implants or at different locations. The change in locations could be determined for several reasons including your goals about implants or any other additional requirements.

You may choose either silicone gel or saline implants. While under anesthesia, your vital signs are monitored. The recovery is more comfortable when local anesthesia with long-term effects is applied. The plastic surgeon places the new implant in the same pocket as the old one after removing it carefully.

Care after the cosmetic surgery

Once the implant is successful, your plastic surgeon will take the necessary steps to ensure safe recovery in the comfort of the recovery room within the facility where a nurse can monitor you. Overall you will feel comfortable and experience no pain at all because of the local anesthesia.

Some patients might experience nausea due to exposure to local anesthesia. They will be taken care of with a scopolamine patch. In other words, there should not be any major concern with cosmetic surgery as it is considered a pretty safe procedure. There are nursing staff to monitor your vital signs. In the first few days, you might experience some incision discomforts that could be easily addressed with medication.

When you go back, your plastic surgeon will advise you on the precautions to take. Complete rest is the best recommendation that they will give. It is also important that you wear a loose dress to feel comfortable. In case you feel pain or discomfort, you should immediately talk to your surgeon. However, you must be reassured that there are no risks associated with implant-related surgeries.

Breast implant surgeries are fairly common as cosmetic surgery is increasingly beginning to get popular as it lifts your breasts. The before and after photos are testimonies of the difference the procedure can make. Yet, it is quite likely that first-time visitors are apprehensive over the risks associated with cosmetic surgery, but skilled and experienced doctors know pretty well that the procedure is  100 percent safe.
