Brazilian Butt Lift is a surgical procedure that consists of transferring fat from one part of the body to another. This process occurs through liposuction and transferring those cells via syringe or cannula to your buttocks area. The procedure can take up to four hours and is popular. Fat is harvested and transferred through small punctures that heal well. The recovery process varies from person to person. Here are some general guidelines which will help you have a faster, more comfortable recovery.

Take It Easy During the First Week

Your body will be healing from the surgery.   Try not to stress it any more than necessary. Take it easy during this week and avoid exercising. You can resume exercising with your doctors approval after the first week with light weights, but do not overdo it.

Keep Your Body Hydrated

There will be fluid shifts during and after surgery that require you to be well hydrated. Drink plenty of water during the first 24 hours to help with these shifts. Staying hydrated helps healing by allowing the tissues to be in optimal condition

Medications

You will be given specific instructions for all medications to be taken before and after surgery. You will want to stay away from anti inflammatory medications that can increase bleeding, such as aspirin and non steroidal (Aleve, Naprosyn), as well as melatonin, fish oil and flax seed. Your doctor or nurse will guide you through what and when to begin taking medicine.

Wear Your Compression Garment

Wearing your compression garment is important after the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. It helps the healing process by keeping unwanted swelling at bay.   Ensure you wear it for at least two weeks after the surgery to decrease swelling in the area fat was harvested from.  Many people wear a garment longer as it feels good to them.

Follow Up with Your Doctor Regularly

Post operative visits will be scheduled at the time of surgery. Staying in touch allows us to help you achieve optimal results.

Get a Massage at Least Once a Week

Lymphatic massage (a light form of skin massage) can help you recover faster and decrease the time to optimal tissue healing. One or more massages a week for the first few weeks can speed up your healing.

Expect Some Swelling and Maybe Bruising

Swelling is a normal part of this procedure. This will stop with time and massage. You may also have some bruising in the buttock region from the fat transfer. It is usually mild and self limiting. Significant swelling or shortness of breath is reason to contact your surgeon.
