What is Contour TRL Laser Peel?

Contour TRL (Tunable Resurfacing Laser) is an advanced laser treatment that removes the top layers of the skin to reduce skin imperfections such as wrinkles, lines, texture, and pigmentation concerns caused by aging, sun-damage, or heredity. These factors eventually take a toll on our skin, leaving us looking older or tired. Through this full-field laser peel, both men and women can reduce these skin conditions, leaving fresh new layers of skin and removing the old, damaged surface layers.

The advanced Contour TRL technology allows for custom tunability. The physician can adjust how much skin is ablated and the precise depth of ablation. Contour TRL is the safest and most effective laser peel of its kind and can be used on a variety of skin types. And the best part – no synthetic material is used to provide rejuvenation; it is your body renewing itself.

How Does It Work?

Contour TRL removes the top layers of facial skin with controlled infrared light. The Contour TRL laser can treat the layers of damaged skin with micron precision, using the exact amount of customizable energy that is required to reduce the particular skin concerns. The adjustable laser strengths allow the technician to independently control the amount coagulation and ablation that is needed to treat specific areas as well. The laser itself will also stimulate collagen growth, completely rejuvenating the skin. The new collagen creates new, healthy cells, leaving the skin firm and smooth.

What Does Contour TRL Treat?

Contour TRL laser treatments are very versatile. The strength of the infrared light can be easily adjusted depending on the depth of treatment required. This laser treatment works to reduce the look of imperfections on both the face and body. The particular skin conditions that this laser treats include:

  • Sunspots
  • Uneven texture
  • Actinic Keratoses
  • Deep wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Pigmentation irregularities
  • Scars

For patients who are interested in state-of-the-art skin resurfacing, this laser treatment may be right for you. Contact our office today to set up a consultation with one of our certified Contour TRL experts to find out more!

Good Candidates

Good candidates for Contour TRL treatments are women and men in good health who have realistic expectations of the treatment. These patients should be looking to reduce skin imperfections related to age and sun exposure. It is a good option for patients who want to reduce the look of discoloration, creases, or laxity of the skin. A benefit to this treatment is that it is safe to use on many skin types and colors.

In order to determine whether or not a patient would be a good candidate for a Contour TRL treatment, please feel free to request a consultation today.

Contour TRL vs. Chemical Peels

The Contour TRL and chemical peels both have very similar purposes; to exfoliate and remove the damaged layers of skin on the face and the body. Due to environmental causes, age, or heredity, men and women see imperfections developing on the outermost surface layers of their skin. Although these two types of skin treatments share a common goal, they obtain their results in very different ways. Chemical peels commonly have 3 strength levels: light, medium, or deep peels. Depending on the severity of the skin condition, the doctor will determine which will be most effective. The Contour TRL, on the other hand, is an extremely customizable single device. The technology provides unique laser strengths to directly target each concern in a more concentrated way. Contour TRL also offers a wide range of treatment options for patients, providing them with completely individualized and comprehensive treatment for skin resurfacing.

The Consultation

During the initial consultation, a certified skin care expert will meet one-on-one with the patient and discuss whether or not the treatment would be right for them. They will then ask about the patient’s areas of concern and what he or she is looking to achieve through Contour TRL treatments. Next, they will perform an examination and review the patient’s medical history and routine medications to ensure that the patient is a good candidate for this treatment or if a suitable alternative will be more effective.

Often times patients will receive their desired results after just one treatment, depending on the current condition of the patient’s skin. Once candidacy has been determined, patients can then schedule their treatment date. We recommend that our patients schedule their treatments at the end of the work week because there will be a few days of downtime required while the body is going through its natural healing process.

In some cases, the skin care expert may recommend additional or alternative treatments depending on the patient’s skin condition and the aesthetic goals they are looking to achieve. We encourage patients to ask any questions they may have during the consultation to ensure comfortability before heading into treatment. Contact our office today to schedule a Contour TRL laser peel consultation!

Preparation

In preparation for the Contour TRL treatment, patients will be asked to refrain from applying acid or retinoids treatments to this skin 3 days prior. On the actual day of treatment, a topical anesthetic can be applied to the skin 20-30 minutes before, depending on the patient’s particular case. Because this procedure is non-invasive, there is very little preparation. This ensures a quick and easy method for treating mild to severe aesthetic skin concerns.

Contour TRL Treatment

Depending on the depth of treatment required, Contour TRL can target layers of skin as thin as a postage stamp to deeper layers of the skin to treat deep lines and wrinkles. Once the skin expert has adjusted the strength and levels of the Contour TLR device, the treatment can begin. Patients will be given protective eyewear to be worn throughout treatment to ensure safety. The laser will exfoliate and remove layers of damaged skin at a depth that is determined by the expert. The entire treatment lasts about 15-30 minutes. The comfort level of Contour TRL laser treatments will vary between patients depending on the depth and extent of treatment that is required to meet the patient’s goals, but generally, patients find the treatment very comfortable.

The treatment will have effectively removed the dead or damaged layers of skin, leaving behind fresh, new, healthy skin now at the surface. The patient’s skin will take about 5-8 days to fully heal. During this time, new cells are being generated, leaving skin more firm, youthful, and glowing once the final results are visible.

Recovery

Once the Contour TRL treatment has been completed, patients will be given an ointment to protect the skin and help to aid in the healing process.

The treated skin may experience light pinpoint bleeding; this is a very common side-effect after undergoing this laser treatment and will subside quickly. Patients will notice redness and swelling of the skin throughout the treated area that can last up to 6-8 days depending on the extent of skin resurfacing.

During the healing process, patients may experience skin tightness, the warmth of the skin, soreness, and/or mild discomfort. Patients should refrain from sun exposure during the recovery stage and use sunscreen constantly when outdoors. After any cleansing of the treatment area, patients should re-apply an occlusive barrier such as Aquaphor to protect the healing skin from bacteria that can lead to infection.

Results

After the treatment area has fully healed, patients will see a drastic improvement in the quality of their skin. Patients will notice that their skin is more firm, evenly toned, as well as a significant reduction in lines and wrinkles. This full-field laser technology provides patients with incredible results in just ONE treatment. Although this treatment does require a few more days of downtime than that of other laser treatments, patients rarely ever need to return for further appointments. Contour TRL treatment is the biggest “bang-for-your-buck”, providing patients with a quick and effective method for full skin rejuvenation.

Price

The cost of Contour TRL treatments varies based on the extent of treatment and the number of treatment sessions undergone. We’d be happy to provide you with a quote during a consultation.
