Types of Facelift Surgery

Some of the common types of facelift surgery include the following:

Endoscopic Facelift

An endoscopic facelift involves the use of a microscopic camera that is attached to one end of an endoscope and is inserted through a small incision in the targeted area of the face. It allows the surgeon to have a view of the underlying muscle structure on the monitor and enables them to perform precise surgery in a less invasive manner.

Cutaneous Facelift

This traditional technique may be used when the patient only needs the removal of excess skin from the face. A long incision is placed along the hairline. The surgeon will excise loose skin through the incision, and replace smooth and tight skin. The technique does not disturb the underlying muscles in the face.

SMAS Facelift

SMAS facelift is one of the most popular forms of facelift surgery today. It involves tightening and lifting the facial muscle structure to improve facial contour. Loose skin and excess fat will also be removed to produce more natural-looking, sustainable, and comprehensive results as compared to traditional techniques.

S-Lift

This type of facelift begins with the surgeon making an S-shaped incision in front of the ears. The benefit here is that the size of incisions is smaller, which results in minimal risk and a reduced recovery period. Patients who need a rejuvenation of the lower face and jaw can be appropriate candidates for this procedure.

As leading plastic surgeons, Dr. Jabs and Dr. Richards receive patients from Northern Virginia, Fairfax, Alexandria, VA, Chevy Chase, Rockville, MD, and nearby areas for facelift surgery.

Recovery and Results

The downtime involved in a facelift will range from one to two weeks. Swelling will disappear gradually over several weeks, and full results will continue to establish during this period.
