Breast Implant Surgery
Breast augmentation procedures must be performed only by a qualified, trained, and experienced plastic surgeon, who is preferably board certified. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia, but in some cases, IV sedation may be used. The outcome of breast implant cosmetic surgery will be impacted by various choices that the surgeon makes in close coordination with the patient.
The right type, size, profile, shape, and texture of implants must be chosen to meet the patient’s aesthetic goals most closely. Incision types will include options such as inframammary incision, periareolar incision, trans-axillary incision, or transumbilical incision. Placement of the implants may be made under the chest muscle or between the breast tissue and chest muscle.

Dr. Dean Jabs, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.S.
With more than 25 years of experience behind him, Dr. Jabs is a well-known plastic surgeon. He completed his residency in plastic surgery at the renowned Columbia University and received his board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Jabs is a member of the International Committee of the ASAPS and was also chosen as the President of the National Capital Society of Plastic Surgeons.
ASAPS honored Dr. Jabs with the Certificate of Added Qualification in Cosmetic Surgery. He won the AMA’s Physicians’ Recognition Award and was also listed in the Northern Virginia magazine’s “Top Plastic Surgeons” list in Virginia. Apart from his private practice, Dr. Jabs is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He is a staff member at the Fairfax Hospital in Virginia and the Suburban Hospital in Maryland.
